Monitor speakers sound really bad?

It doesn't bother me too much, I can just get aftermarket ones that will sound better. But atm, my monitor speakers sound really bad at higher volumes. Like if I'm watching a video and the person is speaking smoothly, then there's no real issue. But if they laugh or raise their voice, the speakers sounds distorted and it's like the speaker is trying to vibrate itself out of the monitor lol.

Like I said, it's a minor thing. But it is kind of annoying as I don't have any other speakers, I have headphones, but I like not wearing them sometimes and just listening to the open room sound. Is this a common thing with monitors?

This is the one I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009720

I just got it a couple weeks ago, when I built my first computer (which I love btw). I've never really "broken it in" or anything. Could that be the reason it sounds so bad? I've heard of people leaving things like white noise or something to play overnight or for a few days to get it to be broken in. Does that really do anything?

Solution
No, it doesn't. Integrated speakers just sound bad, regardless of model, when turned up more than very low. That's just how it is. If you want more than very basic sound, get external speakers.

I planned on it lol, I was just asking if it's normal or not. At least it's something, some don't have any speakers. Thanks for the answer!

Yeah I can see that, laptops are meant to be portable and I don't think anyone wants to lug around some bulky speakers everywhere they go, so it makes sense they would be better. On my laptop, the speakers don't sound rough like my monitor does, but they aren't very loud. But then again, it's from 2009, so it's not gonna be perfect haha.
