Hello all, i was hoping you could help me with this:

End of last year i bought a Samsung 2493HM monitor. After having it for some time it started doing some weird things. I normally leave my pc on 24/7 and sometimes connect to it remotely. Out of nowhere my display decides not to turn on anymore after i connected to it and got home to turn it on again.
Through some frustrated tinkering with display settings, reboots, janking cables, on/off turning, etc i usually got it working again (having my tv attached as second monitor helps alot).

Since a few days now my monitor wont even turn on again even though i havent used remote desktop. So just after having been off for say 18 hours orso it just refuses to turn on again. By the time im posting this topic it just doesnt do anything anymore when attached to this computer and out of desperation ive put it in a corner and re-attached an old monitor.

The weird thing though is that when i put a power cable in it while its not attached to anything it seems to respond and turn on again but, ofcourse, saying theres nothing attached.

I really have no idea what could be causing the monitor to not turn on again. My screensaver is off, power settings are set so that the monitor is never turned off, i dont use any special software related to graphics or my monitor.

Does anyone have an idea about what might cause these kind of problems?

My config is:
AMD Phenom II X4 940
4GB DDR2 1066
Asus M4A79 Deluxe
ATI Radeon 4850 (Asus)

I can only think that there's something wrong with your display's cable port, or the cable you use to connect the display to your PC. Have you tried using a new cable or something?

Thanks for the reply!

Yes i have tried multiple cables. Multiple DVI to DVI cables and im usiing a DVI to HDMI cable atm.

I just tried plugging thedefective monitor to another (already running) computer and it works again like nothing is wrong... I dont think the RMA guys would ever believe me when i tell them how much trouble this thing is giving me..

Does anyone else have an idea about what might cause this?
