[SOLVED] Monitor stuch at 60hz how do i fix this problem?

My monitor is stuck on 60hz its a (VG248QE) monitor and its supposed to go to 144hz but in only stays at 60hz i bought a display port and it still does not work i tried going to the nvidia control panel and it only shows 60hz i went on the display adapter monitor on settings and still got the same thing i need help with this please.
