hi,
i unplugged my monitors to clean my desk. when i plugged them back in to the gpu, the main monitor (connected via DP) isn't recognised by Windows any more.
Windows only gives me 2 low resolution options and simply says 'wired display' instead of 'MSI MAG274QRF-QD'.
if i connect it to the gpu via HDMI Windows recognises it again and automatically changes the resolution to its native 1440p
any help with this?

System specs:
i7 12700k
msi mag z690 tomahawk wifi ddr4 mobo
PNY 3080 ti
32gb corsair vengeance lpx 3600mhz ddr4
2tb samsung 980 pro
Seasonic gx-850 psu
Windows 11 64 bit latest build
main monitor: MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD

It could be that when you removed it, something became loose and no longer makes proper contact.
Here are some things that are common sense to try (and maybe you did).
Try to use a different DP port on the GPU
Put the end of the cable that is on the monitor to the GPU and the other end to the monitor
Try a different DP cable
With these you can see if the problem is the cable or the GPU. If its none of the 2 then the loose connection is on the monitor itself.

Thanks for the response Teknoman. i have since tried all of these things as you suggested and nothing works. however i was able to test an old monitor's DisplayPort using the same cables and it worked fine (that monitor already has some physical damage to the screen though)
so it seems there is a fault with the monitor itself. i have since setup an RMA
