I recently upgraded my graphics card to a gtx 1070 from a gtx 580. After I installed the new graphics card, my monitor would randomly turn off, saying HDMI no signal, and then only turn back only after I restarted the computer. I checked and made sure that my graphics drivers are up to date, as well as checking all my connections between the monitor and my computer. I am not sure what could be going on, I bought the graphics card new so it should not be defective. If anyone has any ideas about what it could be or any possible fixes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Solution
Do you have a UEFI BIOS? The NVidia 9xx and 10xx series cards behave much better with that properly configured.

Absent that, you can try disabling video / monitor sleep, and PCIe link state power management to see if it helps
