Monitor turns off when playing Oblivion

Hello everyone, I have a little problem with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Game worked perfectly so far, currently playing on Windows XP SP3, but since like 2 days my monitor turns off at some points and the game crashes, I also cant turn it back on, have to restart my PC everytime. I already tried updating drivers and reinstalling the game, that didnt help. Anyone can help me with this?

its gotta be your powersource, are the pc and monitor in the same outlet?

yes they are, theyre not directly connected to the outlet though, I use two power strips, but they lead to the same outlet

ya, thats my best guess. your monitor will not just shut off no matter whats going on with your pc. try an extension cable in another outlet and see if that helps or maybe get an uninterupted power supply.

tried it now like you said, i plugged it in directly into another outlet, seems to work until now, 2 days without crash. hope it stays like that, thanks a bunch to you!

hey there, me again, problem just started occuring again, also i recently installed Black Mesa, same thing here.. it worked fine until now, just started over again, any clues?
