Hello,

I am stuck, which Monitor to choose.

An Ultra-Wide Monitor 34, 3440 x 1440, Without G-Sync.

Or

A Wide Monitor 27, 2560 x 1440, With G-Sync.

The deal here is if G-sync worth to scarify the huge large size of 34, 3440 x 1440 or No it is not?!?!?

My Build List : https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Dolomats/saved/

***NB: Please justify your choice 😛***

I will give you two example of Monitors who illustrate this:

Ultra-wide : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yhM323/dell-monitor-u3415w

Wide : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ttnG3C/acer-monitor-xb271hubmiprz

Thank you.

I'm looking to buy the UW 34" monitor myself and was thinking to wait for them to appear with DP 1.4 to have high refresh rates (over 100Hz).
the dell monitor you linked can be manually set to 80Hz. That's not bad at all.
the second monitor you linked is 144Hz monitor.
Ask your self if you need those high refresh rates. Usually useful in very fast FPS games like DOOM.
than comes the performance penalty - you need a very powerful GPU to get 100FPS on 3440x1440. Something like GTX 1080.
Another thing to consider is the games support. Not all games support 21:9. Overwatch is a good example of crappy support of 21:9.
IMHO, i'd go for the 21:9 - i have played games on such monitor and i loved it.

What video card do you have? If you have a GTX 1080, Titan Pascal, or dual 980TI or higher, I would get the 34-inch with no gync. With enough speed, you won't need Gsync. However, if you have a GTX 1070 or lower, I would go for with the 27-inch with GSYNC for smoother gameplay.

^the GTX 1070 handles 3440x1440 pretty well.
Also, monitors have a much longer lifespan than video card. I have changed at least 5 GPUs with the monitor I have and it is still working perfectly.
The only justification I could find to upgrade it is "because I want"

Sorry did not mention my video card. I edited the post up with all the build part list.

In addition, the VGA I am using is MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Video Card.

Well about the incompatibility of some game, I think this is the game's fault and I will not let them drag me back I would like to build a computer that will last for years: p

Moreover, for now I am playing mostly in GTA V I think it is compatible.

Appreciate the help.

Nice, i just watched the video and that sound cool.

OC a router lol never heard about.

Thanks for the help.

Updated :

It doesn't work. The hardware inside the U315W limits the monitor to 60hz, if you overclock your monitor to 80hz it will skip frames so you will still effectively get 60hz. 80hz with 20 skipped frames per second.
