currently i have a ryzen 7 1700 with a gtx 780

i'm using a 1080p monitor and a 1680 x 1050 monitor on a vesa monitor mount.

I'm thinking of upgrading to either a 1440p 144hz monitor or a 4k 60hz monitor when 1180 is out.

my question is will game even run high enough of a fps for 144hz monitor to be useful with a ryzen? if ryzen can't do it then i might as well get a 60hz 4k monitor.

AAA games @ ultra settings

thanks

I’m not so familiar with Nividia GPU’s but I’m pretty sure you are able to artificially set the resolution of the monitor in the Nivida controll panel to force the GPU to render at 1440p and check if the fps in games you play is above 144fps. Also it is most likley your graphics card not the ryzen 7 to limit your fps at 1440p

i think you misapprehend me. I game on a 1080p monitor at the moment. I wish to buy a new monitor to go along with the up coming gtx 1180/2080.

my question is will a gtx 1180/2080 + ryzen 7 1700 be able to have 144 fps or higher in 1440p resolution @ ultra or high setting. if not, then i will buy a 4k monitor (because i'm pretty sure gtx 1180/2080 will be able to run at least 60 fps @ 4k resolution).
