Monitor upgrade help

Hi and thank you in advance, I’m fairly new to pc gaming and currently have a 1080p TN 24” 144hz monitor, will it be beneficial to upgrade to the same manufacturer but 27” 1440p IPS display to play games on, I’m a noob so all help appreciated, many thanks
