Hey guys, so basically i have had my current monitor (HP w2207h) for around 4years and its starting to show its age. I just built my new Mini-itx build so i thought it would be a good idea to upgrade my monitor also since this one is only 22 inches and 1680x1050. I would like to go for a 24inch screen as my desk is not that big & with the bigger screens i guess you have to bump up the res which my gtx 770 2gb probably wont do well with over 1080p.

I have been browsing the Graphics and Display section forums like a mad man for the past week and still cant decide what sort of monitor to go for, IPS or TN seems to be the big debate and every other forum i click on people have completely opposing opinions on what is best for what needs so now im just confused and don't want to waste my money. What i mainly use my pc for is Gaming & Movies, the main games i play are MMO(WoW), RTS , and occasional FPS (some CS go, bf3 , metro). Is it really worth it to go for a TN panel or go for an IPS, because i would prefer to have really nice image quality but i heard the newer TN panels have decent colours and don't seem so washed out which TN is notorious for. Or i could get an IPS with like 5MS and that should cater for my needs?

So to start of when it comes to the dimensions & price etc the screen must be a maximum 24inches & my budget is £300-350 ($500-550). I have been looking around and found some screens which i would love if u guys could check them out and also if u have better suggestions to cater for what im doing (gaming & movies) then please comment. Here they are :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eizo-FS2434-BK-FS2434-LCD-Monitor/dp/B00KQGO77U (this one seems interesting, but i cant find any proper reviews for it, AH-IPS, under 5ms,

http://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors_Projectors/PA248Q/ (checked this one out on the forums here and many mixed opinions, some say its fine for gaming and some say its not? , i dunno)

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-benq-xl2420z-led-monitor-144hz-displayport-hdmix2-dvi-vga-1920x1080-350cd-m2-12m1-usb-1ms (this one is basically the newer version of the BenQ XL2420TE so pretty much same panel, it is TN 144 hz etc but linus said the colours are pretty impressive for a TN )

These 3 are all pretty expensive and i have seen some IPS screens with the same specs for alot cheaper ( under £200 ($320) ) and im not sure why they are alot cheaper?

Anyway guys as you can see im not too clued up on monitors at all and this has by far proven to be one of the hardest parts of my setup to pick, im used to just checking benchmarks when it comes to things like cpus & graphics cards and chosing like that but when it comes to these monitors it all seems to be personal preference. I just want an overall rounded monitor which is great for gaming + has great image quality(does such thing exist?)

PLS/IPS monitors @ 60Hz -

Samsung S24D390HL

ASUS VX279Q (27")

Asus PB238Q

AOC q2963Pm (29", Ultra-wide, 2560x1080, 21:9)

Fast refresh rates -

Benq XL2420Z

ASUS VG248QE (Excellent monitor)

Benq ASUS VG248QE

AOC G2460PQU
I'd get the BenQ XL2420Z, a solid gaming monitor and give an excellent gaming experience. For gaming fast TN panels is what you want for everyday tasks and movies IPS/PLS/VA panels is what is preferable. Other IPS screens are cheaper as the brand that manufacturers the displays, they don't tend to have the same experience as well as the appearance of the monitor (cheap plastic). The Cheaper IPS panels tend to exclude dead pixels from warranty.

Hi thanks for replying, but the thing is, i do gaming + everyday tasks, so i im still not sure what to go for and is it really worth loosing out on colour and image quality just cause i do semi serious gaming? Will it really impact me if i dont go with a superfast TN panel in games?
