Hi everyone, I have a quick question. I have a Nec Multisync LCD 1830 Monitor, Windows has the default refresh rate on 60, my fps in games is getting capped at 60, I have the option of turning up the refresh rate to 150, will boosting up the refresh rate of the monitor be harmful to it?? Thanks for your time eveyrone.

As a side note, Ive been using counter strike to test the fps problem, it hits a ceiling of 60, dosnt move at all stays right at 60, from what I know monitor refresh rate defines the ceiling of the fps? Would raising the refresh rate raise the fps?
Edited by Rx7000 on 03/29/04 08:40 AM.

If your framerates cap out exactly at your represh rate, you probably have vsync enabled... disable it.

And if your monitor can handle it, set your refresh rates higher... 60 hz is hard on the eyes.

I changed it and it looked worse. Manufacuturer recommends 1280x1024 at 60hz for optimum viewing pleasure. I try changing it higher and it looks like im looking threw a glass of water.

On a good note, turning off vsync did indeed max my fps, thanks alot for the tip!!!
