Hello to everyone,

I want to buy a monitor for my new pc, I want to spent 170 euro max so i found these two monitors....
Samsung T24D390EW
Samsung S24D390HL
They are exact the same but the ***EW is a tv monitor. Is there any problem with that?Maybe anyone has to suggest any other monitor(I want to have pls or ips)?

You can use a TV as a monitor, if your primary use is gaming. The problem is that TV's do not display text well at all.

This post, and the comments below gives some insight into the debate around this.

My friend uses a TV as a monitor and I don't care for it, but I think he has a 30" TV and I could see the individual pixels. Drove me nuts. Not sure how it would look with say a 24" tv.?. Can't comment.

When I bought my monitor last year, I had a few requirements: 24", IPS, 1080 (or higher), height adjustment, and reputable company. Ended up with Dell U2412M which currently costs $250 at newegg. (I paid about $300). Nice thing is it has 1200 resolution. Still LOVE my monitor.

In any case, based on MY requirements now on Newegg... everything is around $250. If you're willing to drop down to a 23.8" or 23", there's a few ASUS and LG monitors for around $200 or less. If you're willing to give up height adjustment (which I refuse to do) you can get down to $150ish.

Can't tell people what to spend, but monitors are one of those products I think is worth splurging just a bit. You're probably stuck with it for a few years and it makes a huge impact on your overall experience.

TVs are good for watching video and single player games but because of the refresh rate of most TVs they are not as good for competetive gaming because of the need for VSync and thus lower framerates.

all my hdtv's work fine .. no blur no lag 100% happy with them ''0'' issues this is what I'm on right now

and I got a sharp 46 as well and game the crap on them -- but I not going to say all brands and models work well this comes dowen to knowing whats inside and the specs

as you can see here the 60hz don't hurt fps rates
Min FPS:
70.7

Max FPS:
163.7

there a lot of TV's that mat suck but times have changed for the better with them all I can say for the 190$ and got a 32'' 1080 screen beats the heck for just a monitor for a lot more and 21/24 '' screen

but in the end all you can do is what you feel is best and if you buy Wal-Mart and things don't work out just return it /exchange
