i think my monitor is dying. Earlier today i noticed some slight flickering and then shortly after that the screen got very blurry, with the edges and corners being the worst. Then it snapped back into focus mostly, except for the corners and there being a small thin black band at the top of the screen.

And now its gone blurry again. I can see what i am typing, but its sorta like looking at it through a haze. Makes its hard to see the difference between and 'm' and an 'n' etc.

i assume this means my monitor is on the way out? Its blurry even in the bios. And the onscreen monitor menu gets blurry as well when i move it to the corners. And now the monitor just snapped back into focus, except for the corners again.

I was thinking of getting a 19inch view sonic to replace the one i have now (kds 19 inch). I can pick one up at bestbuy for $229, and the display model i saw looked pretty good.

only if i forget to wear my glasses. But at that point they are so blurry i cant evem figure out what they are, so this is something else :)

Luckily a friend has a 20 inch monitor he's selling. So i'm going to try that monitor and if it works ok i'll just buy his.

AV-195TF... at least thats what shows up in device manager. I really dont have any complaints for this monitor. Its lasted a while. I'd buy another KDS.

fyi,

just plugged in a 21inch viewsonic P810 and there's no blurriness so it was obviously the monitor.

Not sure if i am going to keep this monitor though. There seems to be some flicker to it, even if i push the refresh rate up to 100hz. Normally 85hz is enough on any monitor to keep my eyes from bugging out. Not sure if it has anything to do with XP just detecting the monitor as a generic monitor or not. Couldnt find anything on viewsonics website about this monitor. I might wind up buying the one in bestbuy afterall.
