In order to get to the bios, I must plug my HDMI into my tv and then once I have the BIOS only can I then plug the HDMI into my monitor and it will display. I cannot seem to get into the bios without doing that as my monitor will just always say "no signal" Windows will NOT detect the monitor no matter what I seem to try. I was using an Xbox one on the monitor about a week ago in perfect 1080p but when I plugged it into the monitor (to see if I could get anything to display on it) it now only display at a super low resolution (something like 620x480.) Does anyone have any idea on what is happening with my monitor and how I can fix it? Just in case my monitor is an Acer s230hl

How are you connecting the devices to your monitor? Try resetting your monitor back to factory defaults. You may need to look inside the manual for instructions on how to do this.

There are 2 different models of this monitor. one model has an HDMI the other does not. I own one of both but the model with the HDMI port is in my college dorm currently. the model I am trying to connect to with my pc does NOT have an HDMI, but I have tried using a DVI to HDMI adapter as well as just a DVI but still no luck.
