Monitor won't bring up image

Hi. I'm building a comp, I have all the wires and stuff in. First, the speaker wire is short and won't fit in (is that a problem?) and when I turn on the PC, the fans and LEDs turn on (don't have hardrive, is that why the monitor isn't turning on?) thanx.

Are you plugging the speaker wire into the right place? It should have green ends and plug into the bottom green plug on the motherboard's audio port (on the back of the computer).
In the image below, it is the cable on the right.

Do you have a graphics card?
