Monitor won't connect to pc

I recently finished building my first pc and turned it on and everything seems to be running fine but when i try to connect a monitor to the gpu it won't connect, I have tried vga/dvi and hdmi and nothing seems to work.

edit: When i boot up the pc there are no beeps so i'm pretty sure everything is working

well I hate to be "that guy" but did you take out the GPU and try a different one or onboard

sorry for late response, i had to remove the GPU and connect my monitor to the MoBo and install windows/gpu drivers before i could connect my montior to my gpu.
