Monitor won't connect to PC

I just built a new computer, and when I go to install windows 10, the monitor has no signal. I've tried plugging it into both the motherboard and the GPU. I've tried troubleshooting for a couple hours now and can't seem to find the reason.
My specs are:
Intel Core i5 9600
16 GB (2 8GB) RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070
Gigabyte Z370P D3
WD Black 500GB NVMe

You need to use a processor that works with an earlier BIOS version. Flash BIOS version to F10 before using i5 9600.

So do I have to purchase an entirely new Processor or motherboard? Or is there a way i can update it without doing so
