Monitor won't display after installing new GPU

I have recently switched out my GTX 760 for a Palit GTX 1060 3gb but when I switch my PC on it says no display on the monitor, the orange light shows and then turns to green but still displays a black screen.

I had to plug my new GPU into the bottom pciex16 slot, as for some reason it wouldn't click into place properly in the top pciex16 slot where my last GPU was.

I have uninstalled all the driver's from my old GPU and disabled the Intel on board graphics through device manager. I have reinstalled the ram, removed the CMOS battery and made sure everything is plugged in correctly but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What cable used to connect monitor? There should be absolutely no reason 1060 would not fit into slot that 760 used.

I am using HDMI cable to connect GPU to monitor. Yeah I have tried positioning the 1060 several times but it won't click and even with a lot of force it won't go in properly.

Ok, so HDMI should work, and second slot is x8 on this mobo, so no real problem here too - unless that second slot is faulty. PSU should be enough too. The highest suspect is the card itself - can you check it at another machine? Or try again to make it fit in 1st slot? Perhaps pictures will help see why it does not fit in there.

I plugged my 760 into the second slot and it worked, so the 2nd slot can't be faulty. Unfortunately, I don't have another machine to plug the card into to see if it's faulty. The fans spin and everything sounds right when it boots, it just won't display. I will try

If 760 works in 2nd slot, you can strike off motherboard from suspect list. At least as far as hardware goes. There could be a problem with BIOS not recognizing GPU correctly. The A.6 version has "Improved VGA compatibility." in list of features, so if you had older one, I would advise update.

First check what BIOS version you have already. CPU-Z shows that.

Ok, so you have A.4 version, and you need at least A.6. It is best to update to newest n non-beta version, which is A.7.

Thanks for the help! I've updated my Bios and I am just about to plug my gpu in to see if it works. If this doesn't work, then is there nothing else I can do?

As predicted, it still didn't work. Do I have any other options? I really feel like the GPU is fine, it just isn't being recognised by the pc

Aside from trying the GPU in another machine, I can't think of anything else. You could though try different video cable (DVI perhaps) if you have it and your monitor has DVI port, just in case it is something such trivial as bad port.

Someone on another forum suggested I boot it into windows with my old GPU and set it to boot into safe mode and then try my new GPU? Would this work and how would I do it?

Well, since the card is in second slot anyway, you could try to boot with both cards installed (if your PSU has enough PCIe connectors for that) and see if windows can see 1060 in Device manager.

I tried a safe boot, it did nothing. Are you thinking it is a faulty gpu then? It seems weird, the fans work perfectly, there must be something I can do

Okay I plugged them both in and the GTX 1060 is listed in the device manager. So the PC is recognising it, but it wont let it display? This is weird, any suggestions??

While you are at two cards: update drivers for 1060 (manually if need be), then connect monitor to 1060 and see if you get display at this point (you can switch video cable on running machine).
