Hi can anyone please help me, i upgraded from windows 8.1 to 10, it did its thing of gathering the files then it said it had to reboot, and after that the computer is coming on but the monitor is getting no signal! i even went and got an old monitor and its doin the same thing saying no signal, i have and nvidia graphics card installed, so im wondering in thats the problem. should i put the old one back in and restart? its an amd card that came with it. i had made a windows 8.1 restore disc before hand and tried to use that to fix it but the monitor still wont come on so i dont know if that is working or not either. i really hope i didnt just brick my pc for this stupid update.

update: i put my old graphics card back in and it works but i cant get any updates for nvidia with it installed cuz its amd, i heard there is a problems with nvidia and windows 10 but i dont know how im gonna fix it if i dont have the nvidia card in. Also i tried to restore to 8.1 with the disc, it tried to work the first time gave me options to repair then it just booted to windows 10 anyway, and now i cant get it to boot the disc at restarts now. Im sure i sound really dumb but i have no clue what to do, i cant play my better games with this old card it sucks.

When I did my upgrade, the computer was only recognizing the onboard graphics unit. I ended up having to crane my neck up to the TV for a while but I was able to solve the issue by downloading the latest NVIDIA driver from their website. After that, it recognized all my monitors and the graphics card appears to be working normally.

I would suggest you install the latest driver for the new card while the old card is still installed. Then shut down, swap them, and see what happens.

my problem is that the old card is an amd card and it wont let me install anything nvidia with that in and that is the only way i can see anything on the monitor at the moment, i tried to connect my vga cable to the motherboard, but im getting no signal from that, i tried to look into BIOS but im not seeing what to do to turn that on. prolly dont even have a card for that vga hookup

Download nvidia latest driver from geforce.com. Boot into safe mode and uinstall your amd drivers. Shut down your PC then swap in nvidia card. Reboot then make sure your internet connection are not connected so windows did not force windows update to download drivers for your card. Install nvidia drivers from nvidia package that you download earlier.

Now if you want to install nvidia GFE (which included in the package) turm off auto drivers update. It is known to be conflicting with windows update service.

how am i supposed to do that if i cant see anything? when i put in the nvidia card there is no signal to the monitor.

are you saying that when i reboot into safe mode and uninstall amd drivers, do i then install the nvidia ones and THEN reboot with the nvidia card plugged in? cuz before i uninstalled the amd ones and shutdown and put in the nvidia card and started it back up and there is no signal to monitor. can i even install nvidia drivers while in safe mode with the amd card still in? cuz otherwise i dont know what i can do without a working screen to see if windows update is getting the drivers and installing them, and obviously i cant install them myself blind lol.

" Boot into safe mode and uninstall your amd drivers. Shut down your PC then swap in nvidia card. Reboot then make sure your internet connection are not connected so windows did not force windows update to download drivers for your card. Install nvidia drivers from nvidia package that you download earlier. "

Rebooting in safe mode can let you manage the update conditions of that would engage. The reference course above is the cut and dry fix it.
