Monitor won't wake with mouse or keyboard

Hello all, I have a custom system (running Windows 8.1) that usually doesn't have many problems. However, recently when I wake the PC from sleep, I have to press the power button. The computer will wake, but the monitor stays asleep. If I press the power button a second time, the monitor will wake. Both my keyboard and mouse are set to wake the computer in the Device manager and all my drivers are up to date. Any thoughts? Thanks

Try giving it the three-fingered salute (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and see if that wakes it up.

I continue to have this problem on my AMD system (but not an Intel one). I think it is somehow related to drivers. When I've cared enough, I've gotten around it by disallowing sleep, but do blank the monitor.

My monitor had same symptoms and progressively got worse. Turned out to be blown caps in power supply. Not sure why it only caused problem with sleep (at first), but it did. Replaced caps and all is well.
