I recently purchased an Asus VN289Q monitor. It worked great for a few weeks, until one day I could no longer turn it on. I brought it to Fry's for them to check out, they plugged it in and it worked (both with their power cord, and the one the monitor came with). While I was there, I picked up a new power cord, and switched to that because it was longer. The monitor was working fine with the new cord for a few days, but soon returned to being unable to turn on.
I know the electricity is somewhat bad in the room, there's outages when too many things are plugged in, that sort of thing. This monitor hasn't blown a fuse or been plugged in during one, as far as I know. So what I don't understand is what made the monitor work the second time around, only to quit again. I'll unplug everything besides the monitor, I'll try different outlets, I'll alternate between the power cords and still nothing. I can't change the wiring (as I live with my parents), but is there anything I can do to revive my monitor?
