Ok, here's the problem. I recieved a monitor today, it is 19" and it has really clear and crisp graphics. It is overall a sweet monitor except for one thing(other than it is dell, lol). It will work for one minute, then totally shutoff the next. No lights, no anything. A few minutes later it will work again, I am guessing there is some component inside that is fried, I look around briefly and I didn't see anything. Also, a couple of times when it was on, the images on the screen stretched and then faded out, then faded in and compressed back to there original side. It looked as although the screen was having trouble staying on.

If any one could help me with this problem, that would be great.

Monitors have safety circuits designed to turn off the high voltage if it detects a failure primarily in the deflection circuitry. Older monitors and TV’s that did not have this protection circuit would display a bright horizontal or vertical line across the screen if there was a failure in the defection circuit. This line would quickly burn the phosphor on the CRT thus rendering the entire unit worthless. The protection circuit protects the CRT from being damaged in the hope that the faulty circuit could be repaired.

However monitors are so cheap these days most companies do not even bother repairing monitors any more. They wait until they have enough for a container and ship them back to the factory for parts.

I suggest you contact Dell if it is a new monitor it should be covered under warranty. If you bought is used, take it back where you purchased it from.

Good Luck
