Monitor works via DVI-D But wont work via HDMI

So my Dell ST2220L Monitor wont work with hdmi on my pc, which has a gtx 1060 3gb. The monitor works fine with the DVI-D on this pc but it goes into sleep mode with the HDMI. Yet the monitor works via hdmi on other pc's/A xbox one. I also hooked up another monitor with hdmi into my pc and that worked but this one monitor wont work with hdmi on this pc.
I know this is worded wierdly but i had to word it very specifically because i can find very little people will similar problems but their solutions dont work for me.
