Monitors : 1440p vs 1080p on 17 inches screen

please enlighten me
is 1440p resolution better than 1080p on 17 inches monitor?

im planning to buy AW 17 r4 6700hq i7
1440p 120hz
1070gtx
16gb ram
256ssd
1tb

for 1800 usd

for 1440p is it noticable on 17 inches laptop?

Would have to be a crappy pixels per inch display if 1080p looks bad on 17". 1080p makes sense from 24".

Further resolution advances the better the picture is but no use using a resolution you can barely read unless using an external larger display.

For a laptop screen being so small 1080p would be edging maximum dot per inch before needing a magnifingy glass.
