So I got my copy of Monster Manual Three, and I like it for the most
part. There are a few monsters that I am wary of.

What is your opinion of this manual?

Good, apart from seemingly pointless variant monsters (e.g., variant
ogres, variant trolls, and - geez heck - the flind). With the
possibilities of producing roughly similar variants (or, at least,
variants within the same basic concept remit) by adding class levels,
templates, etc., I think those sections of the book are a bit of a waste
of space.

But, on the whole, there's some good stuff in there. I like the new
swarms, for example.

I think some of the new monsters in MMIII show some great imagination. I'm
a particular fan of the cadaver collector and the broodkeeper is pretty
neat. There is some definate usable stuff for any campaign. But... they
could have used a better editor. It's a lot of money to spend on a book
with typos. I was also unimpressed with some of the art. The bearhound pic
is stupid. The "vapour" coming out of its mouth is supposed to indicate
cold weather, but it looks like he's smoking a doob. Cold weather vapour
doesnt come out in a stream and an artist with an art class under his belt
should know this. A pubilisher with an endless number of contributors should
be able to make better selections. However, I will use this book much more
often than say the Draconomicon....

Bah. "imagination" is not a word I'd associate with it.
