Please, do I need to cancel/modify the
timer entries in the Control Panel items
'Power Options' and also in 'Display'?
To prevent the screen shutting down,
and the system going to sleep, during
the defrag?

Hi,

Does the defrag operation continue? Is the hard drive still chattering, or
do you still see the activity light blinking rapidly? If so, then the defrag
operation is still running, the system is just shutting down other unneeded
processes. If not, then you will need to either monitor the system and keep
it from entering that mode or disable standby temporarily. It's been my
experience that most systems will continue the defrag operation while
entering the sleep state provided it does not go into a hibernate mode.

No. The screen will blank out if you have power options set for it but
defrag will continue to work in the background.
