With the minimum requirement of crysis3 out, about 60-70% of the gaming population is enraged as hell....(including me)
crysis 3 is the first game ever sporting a tag of dx 11 gpu in its minimum requirements....****

Frankly speaking, its one of the most foolish steps crytek have taken and it literally makes no sense..
On one hand crytek empowers its new title on seven year old consoles while on the other hand, it simply refuses to accept even dx10 on pc's which can blow the doors of any present console.....lol....

So basically what i'm asking is :-
Are there more upcoming games (if known) which sport this hefty tag of min req : a dx11 gpu...???
IF NOT, then is it worth upgrading my gpu for just a single ******* game.?????

(i own a dx 10 card....99999999999 times powerful than a console and hence this topic concerns me)
And any opinion in this regard is a welcome...

**99999999999 times powerful than a console **
Proof link please? 😛
I don't see it as an issue, the original crysis was/is hailed as a Pc killer so why wouldn't they ramp it back up for the third installment?,
C2 was watered down to allow more folks to use it but a lot of players run modpacks to get it back to scratch
I hear what you are saying but theres a large part of me that sees smug people in the near future saying, 'Yeah I'm maxxed on crysis3 and my house hasn't burned down'

oh cummon....u want a proof link....
Just google image comparisons for any title on pc and ps3......
The textures on ps3 make me vomit......lol....
It seems i should have added more 9's to my number....not kidding...

thnxx for your reply though....
Well...any upcoming games except crysis 3 that u know about which would be requiring a dx 11 gpu to even start.....???
And one more thing......Can u answer me...
(if you are so concerned with crysis3 taking gfx to the next level)
why in the name of hell is crysis 3 being released on ps 3 and xbox 360....yuck....!!!?!???

whats funny is it still looks like crysis 2. and still looks blurry with high fps feeling like its still dx9....LMAO. and takes a beast to run feeling very unoptimized.

the only reason they made dx11 a requirement. Is because they got so much flak about crysis 2 being dx9. to the point the almost lost every one of their fans.

noone even plays the crysis 2 multiplayer. it got hacked to utter *** in the beta so badly crytek had to make a public apology proimsing the official version would have cheat protection. game was dead months after realease.

but they still don't fool me! I mean it runs on consoles who are they trying to kid? hahah

pc gaming is dying.

**oh cummon....u want a proof link**
If you post a number like that you should back it up with incontrivertible data like a solid review/comparison
I don't know of any upcoming games that 'demand' DX11 yet, but its a new standard so in a year or two it won't be uncommon to see
I like the idea of being able to max C3 just because I can, I won't be one of those who demands 60Fps on max in multiplayer but in the back of my mind its nice to know I can get good frames at high levels
and the sad reason behind the console versions is money, not everyone can affard the latest Pc custom build so they are being kind to the less fortunate/loaded and letting them play it as well, it would be silly to turn away a large portion of customers just because they are on consoles (plus the PC elite can mock the consolebunnies hehe)

imo its still a dx9 game running the same engine as crysis 2.......but it requries dx11 cards...HAHA.

they are not being generous to poor people by making a console version. they are trying to make money and survive as a company.

they are prolly only making a version for the dying pc industry they lose money on, to keep their phony rep up, and because they probably get kickbacks from amd, nvidia and intel...lol

^+1.....

So u think..its money reasons due to which crytek can't turn its face away from console gamers...
But why did they turn their faces away from us dx 10 gamers...(didn't money get in their minds then)..?????
Answer that..probably a million dollar question...lol

Crysis 3 (like Crysis 2) is released on consoles so that Crytek can make more money.

Support for DX9 is slowly dying off. DX10 is more or less dead, no real reason that I can think of to make any new games compatible with it. Support for DX9? Yes.

In any case, it is called progress... Eventually DX9 support will totally disappear. It has been around for a long time... since 2001??? I'll guess that by 2015/2016 all major publishers will drop DX9 support leaving only indie game developers as the likely candidates to continue using DX9.

well....if they are making more money by releasing it on 5 generations old consoles....
shouldn't they have made MORE money by releasing it on dx 10......?????

real progress was crysis1.....this seems more like a money minded stagnancy to me......

**But why did they turn their faces away from us dx 10 gamers...(didn't money get in their minds then)..?????

Because if you want to lord it over the consolebunnies, you have to up your game and get a decent new card, being the best costs 😛

what do you mean? there is no money in the pc. they like all companies now only care about consoles.

they require dx11 for crysis 2to give the impression they are pushing new technology. imo its still a consolized dx9 engine.

and lord it over console bunnies? thats like buying an overpriced alienware or mac. your just proving how much money you have......not that you can play better games with mind blowing graphics.

This aint the 90s no more.

u mean that one of thereasons why crytk is releasing crysis3 on consoles is because it wants the pc gamers to make fun of console gamers......
and even lord over them...
why would crytek make such a cruel move...?????
seems a no brainer...and literally illogical

If there is no money in the Pc anymore, why has the market not disappeared?
I personally haven't owned a console since Ps2 days and would not own one again so heres me in my own little Pc niche, I'm certain I'm not alone because a slew of Pc forums around the world have plenty of members still
**and lord it over console bunnies? thats like buying an overpriced alienware or mac. your just proving how much money you have......not that you can play better games with mind blowing graphics**
Folks will buy things that aren't the best for precisely that reason, because they can afford to, we know that Alienware isn't the best option for gaming but some will always love to say 'I've got an Alienware gaming laptop' or a flash car, its human nature breaking through to show others what you have and what you have, and it alludes to success which other people will obviously want,
This may not be the 90's anymore (Grammar lapse overlooked) but you can't think that people don't want to show off anymore, they always have, continue to do so, and most likely always will

Crytek may not actively seek to have Pc owners make fun of console owners but its the nature of people to belittle those less fortunate than themselves, and if you think you are the best/have the best, you are going to voice your superiority, its not anything new

DX10 was never really widely accepted. Therefore, it would be considered a "waste of time" to devote resources (time, money, effort) to a standard that has more or less been abandoned. DX9 support is provided because that's what the Xbox uses, and many gamers still have DX9 cards.

I suppose you feel cheated because you have a DX10 card and because most games do not support DX10 you need to fallback to DX9. The only thing I can say is that you cannot expect every new tech to be successful. DX9 has been wildly successful since it was released back in 2002. DirectX 11/11.1 will probably become the new mainstay graphics runtime because the new XBox console will use be using it and it should continue for at least another 5 - 7 years even when MS decides to release newer versions of DirectX. In other words, DX11/11.1 will be the new DX9 as support for DX9 continues to dwindle.

We need games like this that push the boundaries, I agree there is no actual need to make it DX11 only but at least this way it will mean that its actually coded from the ground up for DX11. That dosent necessarily follow but that is what it suggests.

The first Crysis was basically DX9 with a few DX10 sprinkles over the top. The prospect of Cyrsis 3 being native DX 11 very nearly makes my mouth water with the potential that would indicate.

DX11 GPU's have been out for two and a half years now. There are plenty about, I'm quite sure they would have checked that they were not reducing the consumer base too much.
In contrast the first Crysis only just had DX 10 hardware available to it so realistically it had to be compatible with newer DX versions.

If games don't challenge the hardware we stand still like we have done for the last few years with very nearly every game out there being playable on two year or older hardware.

Intel have put the brakes on performance increases refusing to give us any more for our money with the latest release.
AMD have pretty much given up the fight with the very real prospect that they may never produce another big gaming chip, instead relying on power efficient APU's, which due to the vast lead they have in graphics they have a realistic chance of making some headway with.
AMD also have no plans to give us any more performance or cards this year.

Make no mistake these games and what they demand of the hardware are essential to the continued development and innovation of computing hardware.
Its not just about gaming, much as with F1 motor racing, a lot of the innovations and improvements that these games force the companies to strive for end up giving very real improvements in other fields such as medicine and the sciences.

theres nothing to show off except how expensive your equipment is. I haven't owned a console since super nintendo. But right now i feel pretty dumb owning a pc for gaming man.

Sure you can run higher resolutions. but I mean i have personally played bf3 on the ps3 for example. I can't say i'm blowing away the ps3 at 1080 res with high detail man.

its not like the days when the first unreal came out.....and you coudln't even play games like that on the consoles....or had anything that had even close to the graphic detail. Back then console players would be in awe with their jaw dropped.

now they will just go...."ya it looks a little better...but not worth triple the money. I play the same game on my console, with way more players, and it looks decent"

If it means that they were able to focus more efforts on the PC version (by only having to work on one render path) than that's just fine with me.

I would rather Crytek actually go for graphical glory than try to make their games playable on old GPU's. They tried that with Crysis2 and the PC community bitched up a storm, so now they go in the high-end direction again, and still the PC community is bitching up a storm?

You simply can't please everybody.

and as far as the pc industry dying. I saw the writing on the wall when ea sports stopped making baseball game for pc. and totally abandoned the pc altogther in 2008.

Golf games since jack nickolaus in 2008,,,, have always been the pc game to push the boundaries and showcase the latest graphic tehcnologies. all the way till tiger woods 2008.

now they dont' even make them for pc anymore. even in this nerdy white industry, they don't even make golf games for the pc anymore. I have to buy a console, after not owning one for 20 years. I feel like i have no choice.

"not allowed to edit this message"

I mean since jack nickolaus in 1987.

but ya if you think crytek is pushing the boundaries with a game that looks exactly like the same engine from crysis 2. simply because they require dx11 cards.....your pretty gullible.

jebus. dx11 cards been around for 3 generations now from both companies. either 1. buy a new card, 2. buy a half decent 2nd hand dx11 card for cheaper, or 3. just don't play the damn game. jeez.

Crysis 3 isn't pushing PC gaming forward. DX11 only + Origin Exclusive? "GO TO HELL", is my response, not "here's my money".

Why aren't you people BOYCOTTING EA?! You enjoy their ridiculous SPYWARE being a requirement to be installed on your system? So you can play the one or 2 titles they release a year that are worth a few bucks? Not me! Screw EA.

I know i'm not buying bf4. Bf3 is so creepy it gave me nightmares. I still play it though, cause well i already paid for it. I just avoid most american servers, i'm sure my hdd is already fkd but my pc hasn't fried yet.

funny story.... the guy who exposed the nxhacks site that was selling hacks to crash servers, that went to pbbans. got his mobo bricked lol. He was telling me its just a cooncidence...hahah....poor guy.
