More INFO on PCI-EX 16X, like what it's good for.

Well there was some <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20030918115307.html" target="_new">more info</A> from ATI and INTEL today about PCI-EX 16X graphics standard as reported @ Xbit-Labs.

It looks like Surround Gaming, or massive monitor-array architecture (MMAA) as ATI calls it, is going to be a focus of PCI-EX.

HEhe, I'm so happy!

The way things are looking, the best option for the future might be to have an entire Powersupply totally deicated to the Graphics Card alone in the future. GPUs are such power hogs these days. Oh, and I'm glad to see that old PCI devices will port over to PCI-Express with no probs even though they weren't designed to tkae advantage of the extrad bandwidth that PCI-X now offers.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Yeah the Inquirer <A HREF="http://www.tech-report.com/onearticle.x/5667" target="_new">mentioned</A> that you will need an SSI server class PSU, and 2X12V for the PCI-EX equipped boards.

HEhe and just when this past year people were deliberating on getting a new {GASP} 300W PSU for their R3XX nVFX cards. Guess what folks.

I love the advantages though. Who cares if my whole Computer consumes the same energy as my stereo, or Massage Chair, or OVEN or the Rest of my entire house. As long as someone wil give me 1000+ FPS in Tetris Damn-it!

Seriously I think the power consern are minor, but the opportunities are SchWeEeT!
