i bought an amd processor from newegg and the heatsink fan has a pre-applied thermal paste. Should this be ample enough for the cpu or should i buy some more to apply before placing the heatsink?

Thanks!

Solution
^Likewise. In theory, it should be enough, but you'll have much lower temperatures if you remove the pre-applied thermal paste and supply your own. Arctic Silver is always a safe bet, though Noctua NT-H1 is an excellent thermal compound as well. Make sure you choose one or the other; don't put more compound ontop of the factory applied paste that's already on there.
