So for the last few weeks I have been researching for a new PC. I was pretty confused about all the overclocking and VRM information, but the burning question in my head is:
More VRM phases=better overclocking results?

And in addition to any info you can provide with me, you can also give me some advice on which motherboard to buy, CPU is a 8600K.
Thanks in advance.

Solution
To some degree that is just marketing. But more VRM Phases results in better voltage regulation. It is also useful in that more phases are better able to be cooled, but that is more secondary.

I would recommend a 300 series Z370 for the I5-8600K.

ASUS Prime Z370-A LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

or

ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Solution
Yea, unless you don't push to the limits most motherboards will overclock about the same, now if you want to the extra MHZ the VRMs might help, also to some extend the life of the motherboard will go longer with better VRMs if you are overclocking all the time.

That Extreme 4 has the same VRMs as the taichi which is excellent motherboard.
