The /mule trick is nice, but you forgot the most important part if you want
to use the /dupe trick:
Create the game and enter it then, and this is very important, DO NOT MOVE
THE CHARACTER ONE PIXEL.
Open your inventory by pressing 'i' and drop the all your items, the ones
you are wearing as well as the ones in your inventory and your cube.
DO NOT GO TO YOUR STASH, DO NOT MOVE THE CHARACTER EVEN ONE PIXEL,
REMEMBER!
Then immediately exit the game by pressing esc, making sure you don't
accidentaly move your character.
The trick is that if a character stays less than 3 minutes in a game, the
server does not write the game, and if a character does not move in the
game, the character does not get written. If you drop some items and keep
others, the character will get written but if you drop all the items the
bug where b.net thinks you're a corpse works and you get all your items
back. And since you typed /mule, the switch keeps the game opened for you
to enter with a second character, so long as it has 'mule' in the name.

And you also forgot to say that he has to come back and type that with the
first character, unless he wants to dupe the items that the mule has on.
Have fun!
