I am a paralyzed 48 yr old man that now lives for Morrowind...problem is that It will not play past the opening mission after I click on anything to do with the barter menu it freezes...or if I left click the mouse to access the inventory, it then freezes...I have tried updating my Nividia driver and all drivers...also searched for patches which resulted in having to have my Comp cleaned...not easy for a man paralyzed and stuck at home!... please help me get the game going!!

Morrowind is one of my all time favorites. The lastest official patches are here: http://www.bethsoft.com/eng/patches.php
Make sure you read the patch notes before installing. The patch link page will tell you which to install depending on the expansion packs (Tribunal and Bloodmoon) you have.

It has been many years since this game was released, and there are some excellent fan modifications around. See below:

After you have installed the correct official patch, test the game and make sure it is working properly. Then, I suggest installing the unofficial game fix patch: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:UMP

After you have done this, you can update the graphics with modifications. The best mod patches are here: http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html

I will assume you are running Windows 7. Generally speaking, it seems Morrowind is more or less compatible with Win 7, but you may want to set the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP SP3.

In case you have any mods installed that affects gameplay, then you should disable them. Also, when installing mods that you want to tryout, you should install them one at a time. Don't install several mods at the same time because they may conflict with each other and it makes it hard to troubleshoot issues you may run into.
