Hey,
in a nutshell im looking for a recommendation for RAM for my system, kinda worked out what range and roughly what the aspects of each RAM do but i dont want to make a mess of my first system with buying incompatible RAM.
Build so far:
Case: Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Hard Disk: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Memory:
MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
PSU: Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply
Processor: Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366)
OS: Windows 7
Graphics: Undecided at the moment, looking towards the 4800 series though.
Quote from Mobo
- Memory 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
- Dual/3 channel memory architecture
- Support for DDR3 2000+/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Quote from Processor
- Memory Controller: Triple channel DDR3 800/1066/1333 MHz
not sure why there is a differance and if this would limit me to only 800-1333 MHz products and away from the top o' the range ones.
The system would be used purely for online gaming, as far as OC and SLI/Cross goes im wary as its my first build.
Would be looking to spend £100-150 on RAM
Thank you very much in advance, will check back in an hour or so to find the best answer.
