Agreed BF3 should make the list. I have a GTX 580 and still can't max it out. (although I do play at 2560 x 1600 resolution)

Crysis 2 isn't very demanding because they dumbed down the engine for consoles. BF3 is also well optimized, so it's not very demanding.

I would say that the most demanding are ARMA 2, Supreme Commander 1, Metro 2033 (because it is poorly optimized), and TA: Spring (You can never max it out).

Yeah, I max BF3 and quite easily with my 6970.

I have proof of this here. A video I made... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg7i-UY13SI&feature=channel_video_title

I CANNOT max Crysis near as smoothly. A video I made... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XjRSXL1o0E&feature=channel_video_title

So naturally my vote went to Crysis and would have even if BF3 had been on the list.

Also, I made a video of Metro 2033 maxed with PhysX, using my ATI card, and I am getting 35+ fps with fraps...with PhysX on an ATI card. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox7sLQl8k94&feature=channel_video_title

No, Crysis is still King.

i shouldnt have included metro 2033 because we all know its poorly optimized.
u need atleast 2 gtx 580s to get it maxed out @60 fps on 1080p

Did you just totally ignore my above post?

No, you don't need two 580's in SLi to max Metro 2033. In fact, I max 2033 in DX11 with DoF and Tess, with PhysX enabled on an ATI card, AA and AF maxed, and I get 35+ fps with fraps - with 1 6970. I even have a video I made in the above post to prove it.

You really need to work on you observation skills.

And in the same post is a video I made of my rig maxing Crysis, and it is no where near as smooth.

I proved it.

Crysis is still King.

You can end the thread now.

Posting gameplay footage to show your FPS with out a frame counter on screen is a bit pointless.

I think you need to work on your own observation skills.

He said you need two GTX 580s to max it out with 60 fps on 1080p.

Maxed out with 35 fps is not the same as maxed out with 60 fps. If someone wanted to max out Metro 2033 with 60FPS then they will need something like 580 SLI.

Well, if I can max it with PhysX on an ATI card and get 35fps with fraps, then it is not as demanding as Crysis. Period.

I get 40fps with Crysis without fraps. You do the math.

As far as that "60fps" mention, yeah I saw where he said it. But remember, the topic of the thread is not "hardest game to max at 60fps", but rather, "Most Demanding Game".

Therefore, my point remains.

I was using fraps when making the video. I saw first hand what fps I was getting, and made it known in the video. I have no reason to lie.

But if you wish, I will make a whole new video, just for you. With a frame counter.

Just give me the word.

Metro 2033 is the better game, no doubt. But, when it comes to benchmarking...

Crysis is still King.

Boy, today is just not your day...

Everybody knows that Crysis is the king of badly coded games.

Now, I will say this...

You may need 580SLi to get 60fps in Metro 2033. But, in terms of general playability - which I remind everyone is the focus of this thread - Crysis is still the most demanding.

And, I think I proved that quite dominantly.

I can't really tell that Crysis is coded badly. Look at what it has to render.....a countryside full of waving vegetation with all that beautiful dynamic lighting / shadows. I haven't seen any other engine attempt to do that at the same quality - and I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the result would be the same if they did. You can build a largely static environment in the editor and get from 40-60 FPS (think COD or similar), so I think the engine is pretty capable, but takes a lot of flack just because nobody else is really trying to push that hard.

I can run this map above 30 FPS with my old 5850....and it makes Skyrim look embarrassing. This engine is 5 years old!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTuAw_i7ngI

I voted Crysis because it is still certainly capable of bringing a system down.....this map drops me into single digits a lot, but it just looks incredible.

And of course, nobody does jungle like Crysis:

I do see your point, although the general consensus agrees that Crysis is poorly optimized.

My vote went to Crysis as well.

I have experienced these games, so I know which one is more demanding.

You can't tell these people anything, however. They plug their ears and open their mouths. Blabbing forth inane utterances concerning "60fps", and "GTX580's in SLI", that have NOTHING to do with which game is more demanding.

I have proved that Crysis is more demanding, at least for ATI cards, using video. But, they blather forth with technicalities such as "no frame counter", "at 60fps", and the like; paying no heed to logical proof provided them.

Such is the nature of the arrogant.

You seem very sensitive PcGamer.

So you've experienced all these games....would you like a sticker for that? perhaps a medal....

You may have shown that Crysis is the most demanding game for your HD 6970 but the topic of the thread is not "Most demanding game for PcGamer81s graphics card", its, "Most Demanding Game".

Telling the OP to close the thread because you have shown that Crysis is more demanding on your graphics card only, is as arrogant as one can get. There is also no need to be so rude and ill mannered towards other people having their say.

I have also played all of the games in the poll apart from the two football games, and I am also inclined to say that Crysis is the most demanding game, however it is very close with Metro 2033.

You're right. I perhaps was out of line to tell the OP to close the thread.

But in my own defense, I would go on to say that it is not just my card that struggles with Crysis more than any of them, but ATI cards. I use to have a 5770 that could almost max Metro 2033 (I have spent more time in the Metro than you could imagine), and I am convinced that Metro is more ATI friendly (save for PhysX) than Crysis.

Now granted, I cannot speak for Nvidia cards.

But it is a little aggravating to try and get through to someone after years of watching this one game kick your system's ass time and time again.

Point taken, however.

Thats very nice, true saying. I have also voted for crysis.

What's your resolution and did you play Metro 2033 maxed out in Dx11?

When using 6950's in crossfire at 1080p, I could barely play "maxed out" and certainly not with PhysX enabled. Maybe in a few areas, but a lot of spots were just too choppy.
