man what gets me is im thinking the people who really think bf 3 is demanding must not play anything else.My gtx 460 ran it great.I could run on high and stay above 30 fps and was smooth as can be.personally i think for as much action as there is onscreen in bf 3 its very well optimized

I just don't think ArmA II has that great of an engine to run on.

I like the concept...and I think ArmA III is going to hopefully improve on a lot of things (like the atrocious sound design.....it's hard to feel immersed in a game where assault rifles sound like old typewriters). Just listening to some of the interviews, it would seem that they have made a lot of improvements to the engine....and from what I've seen it also looks a lot better than the old game.

try making some videos in mutliplayer...singleplayer is not the same.

also crysis is not king and has not been for awhile.

Deal with it.

I have no problems running BF3 MP with my 570....never drops below 40, and most of the time is above 50 (all settings maxed).

Crysis maxed? I can't do it with high AA. Shutting off the game-menu AA, I can hit between 45 and 55, with common drops down into the low 30s. So yes, Crysis is much harder to run than BF3 in any mode.

You've got a mouth.

My internet connection is superb. I get a 0% drop in performance in MP. The only exception is where there's an extraordinarily amount of action, and even then the drop is minimal...My PC handles BF3 very well.

Crysis is far more demanding.

I don't think Crysis is necessarily king, and I do think it is fanboyed extremely hard. None of that makes BF3 more demanding though, and I agree with you Stringjam my 570 runs the game extremely well with more settings maximized (I adjust settings to never go below 60 fps personally) than I would have expected prior to its release. I'll leave my current vote with Witcher 2 maximized settings, but definitely not going to crown BF3 as the most demanding game. On the contrary I think it is a prime example of how good a game can look while still being very well optimized.

Crysis is not more demanding.

and im not talking about bf3.

Than BF3? Yes it is, and by a considerable margin on the hardware side. I like the look of BF3 better though, and that reflects 4 and a half years of technological advancements between the release of Crysis and BF3.

no i wasn't comparing it to bf3, i just pointed out in my other post that running Bf3 in single player will give you better fps then online.

well when i quoted the other guy i was responding to him saying "crysis is king" and i assume he means most demanding game by that...but games like witcher 2 and metro 2033 are more so.

Eh, Metro behaves a lot nicer on nvidia systems when it's maxed, moreso than Crysis. Witcher 2 will pretty much dump on any hardware in its max configuration though, I definitely agree with that.

Im going to end this debate once and for all.Im going to benchmark arma 2,crysis,witcher 2 and metro 2033.I have a 7970 with an I5 2500K 4.8 GHZ.Im already sure arma 2 will win by a landslide i wont even hit 20 fps maxed out but give me a few days ill take screens of the benches for all 4 games.Battlefield 3 should not even be in this discussion

Ok 2 games down 2 to go

Metro 2033 maxed 35.24 fps looped 3 times 1920x1080

Arma 2 maxed view distance 10000 aa and af maxed 24 fps 1920x1080

Well metro is out

sure when everything is complete ill post all settings with minimum and max fps

I'm really curious to see if the 3gb VRAM on your card significantly reduces the impact of ubersampling in Witcher 2 or if it's as bad on the 7970 as it was on previous gen hardware.

ok im going to redo the first 2 tests i was only running at 4 ghz going to bump it at 4.5 ghz my normal game play settings.the little i could bench of witcher 2 i had some stuttering for sure, but it looks like i will be in the solid 30 fps range fully maxed

This is what i got so far

2012-03-20 01:42:42 - arma2
Frames: 1690 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 25.167 - Min: 13 - Max: 52

2012-03-20 01:57:04 - witcher2
Frames: 1788 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 29.800 - Min: 13 - Max: 48

2012-03-20 02:03:49 - metro2033
Frames: 2248 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 37.467 - Min: 14 - Max: 62

arma 2 wins so far have to reinstall crysis ill have those results tommorow.Ill also post all the graphs i can.Im suprized witcher 2 was so close to arma 2 in performance didnt realize it was this demanding.Im still thinking arma 2 even without running crysis but i guess will see tommorow.

np this is fun for me lol.makes me realize even a 600$ graphics card cant max everything and be playable.I guess i just want to see what game really is the most demanding. To be fair though arma 2 is all about cpu over gpu.

Sadly I don't have any in depth experience with Arma 2. I feel good that Witcher 2 held up as close as I thought it would though. Ubersampling is an idea that probably doesn't need to be repeated again in gaming :x.

Ok and the winner is............ ARMA 2 atleast on my system is the most demanding game today.crysis was actually the only really playable game maxed out.You could argue witcher 2 on certain systems maybe witcher would run worse then arma 2 but metro and crysis are out of the question not the most demanding.well anyways heres the numbers for crysis. If anyone wants more proof or anyway i can 100% verify let me know.I am being as truthful as i possibly can.All benches were run with i5-2500k at 4.5 ghz and a 7970 overclocked 1102/1531.I also totally maxed out everything on all games without a doubt.

2012-03-20 03:27:55 - Crysis
Frames: 3061 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 51.017 - Min: 43 - Max: 61

I even ended up trying crysis in eyeinfinity and i was getting about the same fps as what i got in arma 2 single screen.5760x1080 averaged about 24 fps in crysis not bad at all.a 2nd card in xfire would surely keep me above 40 fps in eye

Thanks a lot for taking the time to bench the games. Definitely made the thread a lot more interesting, and now I'm curious about Arma 2. If it's the draw distance and huge texture caching, I'm not sure if a lower VRAM card would struggle any more with Witcher 2 than with it, since the ubersampling and lots of textures in a big map like Arma 2 would both deteriorate significantly as VRAM was reduced. More impressive really is that a single 7970 played Crysis literally maxed with a min fps of 43. That's pretty damn good in my opinion, hardware wise. If I wasn't waiting to see Kepler numbers and compare afterward, that kind of talk would have me sold on a 7970 like today lol.

Meant as a segue to the topic of the post, not as a dig @ Crysis fans despite how it read =).
