I wish to purchase a gtx 970 with solely I purpose in mind, i.e, durability. Obviously I'm not asking anyone to predict how long these cards will last since they came out hardly 4 months ago.

Instead I'm asking someone who has held and used multiple versions to see the build quality of the card and it's components.

I'm currently looking at the ASUS Strix, MSI Gaming 4G and Gigabyte G1.

What factors make a card more durable. Does the 0dB fan-stop technology affect gpu life positively or the opposite?

EVGA had a bad rep at launch for the 970s. I've had 2 ASUS, they ran cool and quiet, build quality was amazing. Go with either Asus or MSI, MSI has really stepped up their game lately and been putting out very high quality products.

That's normally the idea, but there was a whole deal about the heat sinks not seating properly due to a recycled design, I think if it's acx 2.0 it's fine, but still, EVGA normally stand for quality and having those kind of issues just makes me skeptical. Either way, I'd say go with MSI, generally viewed as one of the best 970s.
