I have already asked around to find the best value GPU and I was told about the GTX 760, which would be perfect. But it's a PCI-E 3 card and my mobo has 2.0. My current card is a GTS 450. If I can't get a much better card, I might just have to start over and build an all new computer.

Solution
Just get a 760 if you can afford it. It should not be a problem.

If you cannot get it, then get the 7870 instead. It is also a good GPU. 660 is also as powerful and sells for a bit cheaper than the 7870.

I have a Phenom II x6 1045t CPU. I know they're backwards compatible, but wouldn't I lose some power from it?

Would I get the same performance from the GTX 760 as someone with a PCI-E 3.0 motherboard?

Yes. It's almost no difference. Todays cards are just starting to fully use the 2.0 bus, nevermind the 3.0 bus yet. Your CPU might not be powerful enough for that card though. That's your bigger issue than 3.0 vs 2.0

Yes I'm aware I'll bottleneck the card slightly but I've been told that my GPU bottlenecks my CPU as it is.

Get a 760. It probably won't be bottlenecked by your card.

Your card is very close to the current 6300 and the 6300 does not bottleneck the 760.

Both my CPU and current GPU are oc'd 15%.

Yeah I can afford it easy, I have a job with a friend as a Computer IT but I'm in training right now. So, I should be able to get this card next week. Thanks for the info. Where did that comparison graphic come from btw?
