Most suitable motherboard for cheap PC/Future upgrade

I'm about to build a PC which includes the Intel G3258 and a GTX 750ti. I'm building it to be as cheap as possible (Not that I need say) in order to get through a 4 year list of old steam games yet played.

That said, I will eventually want to upgrade. My thoughts are that it would be a good idea to spend a bit more on a motherboard which will eventually be paired with an i7 Haswell and whatever gpu makes sense at the time.

The mother board I am looking at is the ASRock Z97 EXTREME4. I know it is capable but am also aware it' might require fiddling with the bios.

Is this suitable or are their any better suggestions?

try and get a z170 lga 1151 setup. its more future proof.
maybe you can try intergrated graphics first? and save up some money to buy a good gpu later?

But then I would need to buy a new 1151 socket cpu (mb's aren't backwards compatible are they?) Which defeats the whole purpose of my two stage purchasing.

yes sorry I didnt see that there are no cheap lga 1151 cpu's..
but buying lga 1150 now to upgrade later is a very poor choice now that 1151 is out.
If you cant wait. but a g3258 but If you can wait till a cheap 1151 cpu is out
