Yeah i recently had issues with my i/o shield when building my current rig. You don't necessarily "need" an i/o shield but it's generally advised to protect your gear from shorts or other electrical interference for instance capacitors for your sound etc.

My advice, try to bend it back into shape or at worst Jerry rig it into place. The alternative being you're creating a sizable hole for dust/dirt. If its the little prongs that are in the way try bending them outwards instead of inwards vice versa.

Is the back "card cage" a separate piece? Maybe you could take it out and elongate the screw holes (in the right direction) with a Dremel? Of course take out the MB before you do this. You don't want metal flakes anywhere. Vacuum when yer done. Beware of ESD.

Ok ill try and report back to you

do you mean like taking out the mobo mounting tray like this:

I tried for an hour it didn't work.

Hello... Ouch... frustrating... Bloody finger cuts? take a break. B/

1) Where is the interference? a corner, side, OR?
2) Holes for screws won't line up after MB is in proper position?
3) Or MB will not go into position?
4) is the I/O shield ground tangs hanging you up? you can flatten them some... *Warning very sharp edges. Put tape/carboard on the painted surface not to scratch it... and use needle/pliers nose to apply pressure Just to the bend.

5) I have seen I/O plates styles that can be put in afterwards... is yours outside or inside mounted, or you have it in wrong?
6) and Yes... some Cases I had were so mis-aligned... I ran the computer without the I/O plated.

I like to build in small cases... and It is challenge to get that last twist/turn into place.
