It is my mother board that is a Old P6X58D-E I want to know can I fit and run a Asus GTX1060 6GB card in it with only Express gates 2 ?? the i7 is only A Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07Ghz Memory is 12.0GB (Ram) and is a DDR5 ?
running at the moment a GTX 750Ti card?? Thank you for reply ? Windows 7?

Yes a 1060 will work with your motherboard. The pci-e interface is backwards/forwards compatible.

BUT... since your PCIE ports on your system are only PCIE 16 v2.0 not v3.0 then realize the speed of the video card will not be at what you see posted everywhere as v2.0 speeds ares slower than v.30 pcie lane speed.

Pcie 2.0 should not hold back a 1060 in any meaningful way. If the 1060 is held back by anything in that system I would assume it would be that first gen i7.

Agreed, I guess what I wanted to make sure was expectations, people see. Oh I get xxxxFPS with my 1060 6gb I just wanted to state that his FPS will be a little lower than those number (about 5% less).

Your right that i7 CPU 950 really should get updated by i7-980x (since the board supports it) for 150$ (ebay) more and get more power output from that system.. (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6X58DE/HelpDesk_CPU/)

I totally forgot about the 980x and that it had 6 cores. Would love to see some modern game benchmarks on that thing.

here they are compared by intel side by side the 6 cores over 4 cores is only part of the story, bigger cache, faster bus speed ect… shown in blue are the differences. And since the score of the i980x is slightly les than an I7-4770 that makes it a very good contender for current gaming with a 1060 even modern games
