Mother Board not detecting Graphics Card

I just finished building my first PC and Im trying to install my Graphics Card drivers but when I go to install it says "could not find compatible graphics hardware". When I go to device manager it is not under there only the integrated one from the motherboard.

My motherboard is a MSI Z97-G45
The Graphics Card is MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

have you plugged in the 8 pin or 6 pin cable into the graphics card? Is the graphics card securely in the pci express slot?

Yes I have check all those i am currently transferring the Drivers from the CD it came with to a USB because I was trying to use the online version so let's see how it goes
