mother board/ ram question

if a mother board memory type is DDR4- 2133 will it only support ram up to that speed such as this mother board https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h170pro4

Yeah - you can run any speed (that the RAM sticks themselves support) UP TO 2133. So if you bought slower DDR4, it would work at the max speed for the RAM sticks. And if you bought faster DDR4, it would sorta be a waste. I think there is a chance XMP profiles may be able to goose some speeds above what the MoBo technically supports, but its not a sure thing, and probably a lot more headache than you want.

you can buy 3600Ghz RAM DDR4, but if mobo said 2133Mhz max, then your ram performance/speed only up to 2133Mhz.
because mobo is the heart, that control everything. ^^
