Hi members.
I have a motherboard that is not working 100% (ECS H55H-M)
The on board sound gets detected by windows but there is no signal going out to the speakers.(not a driver problem)
It also seem that the one PCI slot is not working as I wanted to fit a PCI sound card.
What I would like to know is where to look on the motherboard to find the culprit.
Why would the PCI slot and the on board sound not work? I do not know how motherboards are laid out. Example what power circuit powers what?
Is there an relation between PCI slot and on board sound power source?
On what pin on the PCI slot can I check for correct voltage?
I am hoping for a simple leaking or shorted transistor 😀
Or maybe a toss in the wind and just re-flow the whole board :-/
And if I can not repair the problem what are the chances that the PCI-Ex1 slots will work? Do they share power with the PCI and sound? I do not want to buy an expensive sound card just to test the PCI-Ex1. The x16 is working.
Oh and the on board vga is artifacting. Gives me little hope to re-flow
Many thanks
