my mobo is quite old and ive been too lazy
to upgrade (so old its pcie 2.0) im not struggling with my hardware but should i take the time to format all my stuff and swap my mobo so i have the option to upgrade if i want and if so what mobo
(amd cpu)

Solution
It is the standard already, amd is just behind the curve but they will be caught up soon. Ddr4 prices are already down to ddr3. Plenty of production and ddr3 production is already going down.

2 to 3 is like a 2 frame difference but im not looking to upgrade my hardware im wondering if i should swap my mobo so i have the option to upgrade

as it stands an upgrade will require, new Mobo, CPU, and RAM.
just swapping the motherboard will not increase upgrade possibilities at all. you will still need a mobo (different socket), RAM (DDR4 or faster DDR3), and CPU (socket).

in any case I would suggest a full backup before doing any parts changing, just a good habit.

i have a back up already i back up all my thing that can be backed up ever 6 months

You upgrade mobo at the same time as a cpu upgrade since new stuff is always coming out. You don't upgrade just the mobo for a future upgrade. Zen will be out later in the year and require a new socket, chipset and ddr4 so there is no mobo that would give any type of future upgrade. The fx 8 series is the "best" you will ever get.

truthfully i will never get ddr4 untell 5 years down the line its the standard
