as is said, there is a chance it will work in that motherboard. The A8 3850 and A8 3870k are quite similar indeed, outcome may indeed be it'll work, I'll look into it more.
I don't have the money for a new motherboard D: Do you have any logical reason on why it will work or may not work based on your knowledge of cpu's/motherboards?
That could be due to the fact that this processor wasn't out at the time that they released this build and they just didn't update it as it's an old build. I just want to know for sure talking to you experts of tomshardware

I really appreciate that man, thanks for making my problem one of your own. It really means alot.
I just called HP up and they're saying that it won't work. I asked why and they just keep repeating the list that's on the website. I kept telling them how it's the same socket type etc, but they just keep repeating that list. Seems like they have no actual reason or have any experience at all in computer hardware. I would like more opinions on this thread please.
Research done, the problem is, the CPU could work with that motherboard but HP haven't been bothered to release a BIOS that will work with your motherboard, So it could work if they did but it won't because they haven't released a BIOS for your CPU. Sorry, nothing much you can do.
