motherboard and graphic problems

I have a Asus motherboard P8h67-M and i have a nvidia gtx 650, every time i tried to install the graphic card, the board doesn't support it, Why? doesn't my motherboard support that specific graphic also i have installed lower graphic card with GT 610 but it works like a charm, i was wondering is it because of my motherboard has only 2.0 pice x16 and my graphic card has 3.0 pice x16 and they don't match each other??
