Hi,
Today I was wanting to use a different PCI-E cable from my GTX 1080 to make the interior of my computer look a little nicer. I did something dumb and tried to use a 6 pin connector to the 8 pin connector and when I booted the computer on, it immediately shut off. I tried turning it on again using the power button on my case and it took maybe 15 seconds before I could boot it again. After I was able to boot it again, I've noticed that the fans stopped working on my 1080 and there was no picture produced on my monitor. In addition, my motherboard stopped producing the beeping noise every time it boots up. I've tried turning it on without the graphics card installed to the pci-e slot and it failed to produced the long beep when there is no graphics card installed. I went to Best Buy today and tried using a brand new 1050 for testing purposes and received the same result with one exception: no picture produced on the monitor, but fans are working. The motherboard, again, failed to produce the beep when I used the 1050. I'm going to see if Best Buy is willing to test my 1080 to see if it is completely dead before I take it in for warranty. So far, I've come to the conclusion that my motherboard is now faulty and needs to be replaced along with my graphics card and possibly the power supply. Some additional details I would like to include are that the fans installed to the motherboard are still operational. I've talked to a computer shop employee over the phone and he has suggested to use a different graphics card, power supply, and motherboard. If anybody can give me any tips or useful information in my situation it would be extremely helpful!
Here are my specs
