I have a computer my wife bought me over 5 years ago for gaming and it was around $400-$500...now that I'm more into gaming iv been wanting to upgrade my graphics card and motherboard as my FPS isn't what I want it to be at...i got a year old GTX 750TI from my nephew (he got a Titan X) and I purchased a new Asus 970 motherboard and HDMI cable because I couldn't get the GTX to work on my old motherboard (I was told it was outdated)...iv got a 500w power supply so my question is should I worry about anything else or what should my next upgrade be? I'll be installing my motherboard tonight and have heard it's best to just do a fresh start instead of trying to restore...this true?

What cpu is in your PC? or can you post your PC model? also what model is your 500W PSU? because 1) the cpu may bottleneck the gtx750ti, and 2) the 500W does not tell you the whole story, in other word not all the 500W PSU are the same. If the cpu is too old, or the PSU is not good enough, you should buy the whole new PC.

Upgrade your CPU.
8320E's are cheap cheap cheap right now, especially if you have a microcenter (or you can use the webstore)
$90 for an 8320E on microcenter.

Also ignore the guy saying buy a whole new PC.

You've already got your mobo, so the big factors for speed would be Gpu, Cpu, Ram, SSD (SHDD).

750ti is a bit out of date, but if you don't mind not being able to play 1080p ultra it should still be capable of playing anything around medium settings.
Also, adding an SSD boot drive/game drive would not be a bad idea to lower load times.
Amount of ram/ram speed?
