Hi i am going to be getting the Cool master haf X, it has 4 fans and i think i am going to buy the asus maximus vi hero but i can only plug 3 fans in? what will i do? i dont want to use a molex thiny because it will might make my fan run slow, So will i need a better motherboard?

Solution
I would just suggest using a splitter for the top fans. I can't imagen you will be needing them to run so fast. Unless you want it to sound like a jet taking off :)

As i can see does it got:
1 x CPU Fan connector(s)
1 x CPU OPT Fan connector(s)
3 x Chassis Fan connector(s)

Use the CPU OPT Fan for the top fans.

It's is sort of the second CPU fan header. It is always/most of the time right next to the CPU fan header.

Often used if a CPU cooler have 2 fans. But you can change/controle both CPU and CPU Opt separately. For eksample do i i have a Dark Rock Pro 2 which only need 1 fan header, but i also have a exhaust fan close to the CPU cooler which i have plugged into the CPU opt.

oh ok well i wont really bother much about it because i will be using watercooling. also does my water cooling radiatior plug into the cpu fan header? and where does the pump plug into? also one more question with the fan splitter can i use a 3 pin and 4 pin in them and will i just have to plug the 2 fans into the splitter and the the splitter into one of the fan headers?

In my watercooling setup do i have a dual RAD, where i've used a splitter on the two 4pin PWM fans. This help them keep in sync and it only use 1 fan header and i controle them both a the same time.

The pump part is sort of based around if the pump have the 4th pin to control it or it only have the 3th pin to see what speed it is running at. Could you link what watercooling you are thinking about buying? :)

Not to be rude but could you please edit your reply as its hard to read 🙁 sorry i have bad english, and i think the water cooler will be some thing like the H100i, i have heard good reviews but i really don't know. My water holder will be something alpa-cool and finally i know nothing about pumps.

Ah sorry. It might also just be me who just writes poorly today :)

The splitter looks like this http://rbmods.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/pic16.jpg

The H100I have i used in 2 builds so far. Great in many ways. A H100I have both pump, coolant and RAD in one closed loop. All you need to do is to plug it on a SATA power connector; http://attachments.techguy.org/attachments/222183d1364351866/g_74.jpg . It have 1 fan header were only the 3pin is connected. You don't need to connect it to your Motherboard, it will run no matter what.

The H100I only cools the CPU. If you want to build a full water cooled build. Keep it mind that it will cost a fair deal. Just as a advice: Never buy cheap watercooling parts. It will always bite you in the end.

Here is some youtube videoes to help you :)

Here is a blog with very clear, detailed installation instructions for the H100i: http://www.corsair.com/us/blog/how-to-install-the-hydro-series-h100i-cpu-cooler/

For connections:
1) connect fans to pump/water block module
2) connect power to a SATA power connector from your PSU.
3) connect pump/water block module to a CPU fan socket on the MB
4) connect iLink USB connector to a spare USB 2.0 header on MB.

Good luck!
