Hey guys

I'm going to upgrade my AMD fx-4100 cpu for a fx-8350, also, going to change my MB for a better one and increase the RAM to 16gb.
I have some questions:

1- What mid range MB woud you recommend, my friend had a problem with the same CPU because his mainboard couldn't deliver enough power(or something like that) and it would overheat.

2- I read somewhere that if i use 4x4gb RAM sticks it would decrease the speed to 1600mhz(im going to buy 4x4gb RAM 1866mhz).

The reply link is at the bottom right of each post.

As I recall, the 970 chipsets had thermal issues with the 125/140 watt processors. What you might want to consider is the FX83xxE series processors which are only 95 watts. Of course, you'd need to verify that these new chips are on the CPU Support List for whatever motherboard you decide upon.

The other thing to consider is that since you're upgrading both processor and motherboard, you may want to consider an Intel upgrade (depending on your upgrade budget).

If you're dead set on the FX-8350, then you will want to look at the 990 chipset motherboards which do not have thermal issues with the higher wattage processors.

You can look through compatible motherboards for your cpu here http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007625%20600138080
